Universal Live, Ramfest and Sue Ryder

Universal Live and Ramfest 2019 raise £5,500 for Sue Ryder’s Wheatfields Hospice.

Collaborating once again on the annual festival, Universal Live and the organisers of Ramfest decided that for this year’s event (13th – 14th July) they would donate the majority share of the profits to Sue Ryder’s Wheatfields Hospice, near Leeds (headline charity and Universal Live’s charity of choice). The remaining amount going to a variety of other local charities the festival supports.

Ramfest is a family-friendly event which has been held at Southworam Cricket Club for the past ten years. It was set up by Stagefreight’s Managing Director, Ian Uttley after the passing of his dad who cared for his mum with Parkinson’s. Starting from humble beginnings with four pub speakers and a gazebo which blew over the roof, the event got bigger and better year on year, with full production, big bands and raised thousands for charity.

The decision to choose Sue Ryder’s Wheatfields Hospice as the main benefactor of the event was in part due to the dedicated support and sponsorship from Universal Live over the years. The hospice provides for people aged 18 and over, living with conditions such as cancer, heart failure and lung disease. They also offer a range of day services in the hospices, helping people stay at home longer and giving respite to their carers. The hospice relies heavily on charitable funds raised by organisations, individuals and themselves – without its supporters, the hospice would not be able to provide the excellent care and facilities that it currently does.

Thank you to everyone who organised, attended, worked and donated to Ramfest 2019 – without you, it would not have been possible to raise such a substantial amount, for such a well-deserved charity.

Kirsty Christmas, Community Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive such an incredible sum of money from Universal Live following their support of the Ramfest music festival.  We rely on charitable donations to allow Wheatfields Hospice to keep providing personalised end of life care and support to local people and their families, and it is just wonderful to have the continued support of Universal Live. Thanks again, it’s just an amazing amount of money!”.
